Gemalt und gezeichnet habe ich schon als kleiner Junge. Mit 16 Jahren bekam ich von meinen Eltern meine ersten Ölfarben geschenkt und male seitdem nur noch mit Öl.
Die Liebe zur Malerei wurde noch bestärkt durch die Liebe zu den sogenannten Impressionisten, sobald ich deren Geschichte zu lesen bekommen hatte. Auf Ausstellungsbesuchen studiere ich bis heute gerne ihre Werke und ihre Art zu malen.
Der Maler, der mir der Liebste ist, ist natürlich Renoir.




In meiner Laufbahn durfte ich auch eine Zeit lang in den Genuß eines echten Modells kommen, mit dem ich das prickelnde Erlebnis von Live-Sitzungen hatte - mit der daraus resultierenden Erkenntnis, daß ich von Photographien besser malen kann.


Eines Tages blätterte mein Modell in der Mappe mit den Photos, die ich zu Demonstrationszwecken ( und zur Erinnerung - die meisten Gemälde sehe ich ja nie
wieder) von vielen Gemälden gemacht habe. "Diese Frau kenne ich", sagte sie plötzlich; "mit ihr habe ich zusammen gearbeitet; sie heißt N.!" Von dem Tag an
war ich zufrieden. Von da an wußte ich, daß die von mir Portraitierten zu erkennen sind. Das war 1998.









Das sollte nicht die einzige Bestätigung meiner Kunst bleiben. Ein Mädchen, das mit ihrer Tante eines Tages bei uns zu Besuch war, sah das Portrait eben dieser
Tante auf einer Vitrine in unserem Wohnzimmer stehen, deutete hinauf und rief aus: "Das bist ja Du da oben, Tante H.!"







                                                                                Eine Käuferin, die ihr Enkelkind als Baby malen ließ, berichtete mir, sie würde mit dem Bild reden.




Und Onkel H. sagte mir über sein Portrait, ich hätte seine Seele gemalt. Größere Komplimente kann ich mir nicht vorstellen.




Heute hängen Gemälde von mir in Deutschland, Frankreich, Dänemark, Ungarn, Griechenland und der Schweiz.

Zahlreiche Schützenscheiben habe ich für einen Schützenverein bemalt.



Die Malerei ist kein gewöhnliches Handwerk wie man zum Beispiel einen Nagel in die Wand schlägt.
Einen Nagel kann ich auch in die Wand schlagen, wenn es mir nicht gut geht.
Ein Gemälde kann ich nur beginnen, wenn eine innere Stimme mir sagt: ja, die Muße ist jetzt da.

I started with painting and drawing when I was a little boy. When I was 16, my parents gave me my first oil colours. Since then I have used nothing else but oil colours. As soon as I got the opportunity to read John Rewald's "History of Impressionism", my love for the impressionists made my love for painting even stronger. On my visits to exhibitions I am studying their works and styles still today. The painter I love most is of course Renoir.

During a short part in my carreer I had the luck to have a real model with whom I could experience exciting live sessions - resulting in the consciousness that I can better paint after photos.
One day my model looked through my collection of photos which I made of my paintings in order to demonstrate ( and as souvenirs as I cannot see most of my paintings ever again).
"I know that woman", she said at once; "I worked together with her; her name is N.!" From that day on I was satisfied. Since then I knew that the persons portraited by me can be recognized.
That happened in 1998.

This should not be the only confirmation of my art. One day a little girl visited us together with her aunt. When the girl saw her aunt's portrait in our living room, it pointed on it and shouted out: "This is you there, aunt H.!" One customer, whose grandchild I had painted, told me that she talks to the portrait. And uncle H. said about his portrait that I had painted his soul.
Bigger compliments I cannot imagine.

Today my paintings are hanged in Germany, France, Denmark, Hungary, Greece and Switzerland.
Several wooden discs for a shooting club I have painted.
Painting is not a craft like others like hitting a nail into a wall. I can even hit a nail into a wall when I am sick.
I cannot start painting a portrait before an inner voice says to me: yes, the muse is now here.
